On Approval Service for European Community customers:

The Early Music Shop offers a comprehensive 'on approval' service for all instruments. Let us know your requirements by letter, telephone, fax or email with an indication of your upper price limit and we will carefully select an instrument on your behalf. In the case of recorders, you may choose up to three, either of the same make or different, to try at home. The instrument(s) will be sent for a ten day trial period, fully insured on your behalf, perhaps giving you time to take them to your teacher or try them out in consort. All we ask is that you provide some security either in the form of a cheque or by quoting your Mastercard, Visa or American Express card number. Neither the cheque nor the credit card will be presented for payment until you have made your choice and have instructed us. If all 'on approval' instruments are returned, we simply ask that you cover the postage and packing costs and pay an administration charge of five pounds sterling.

Unfortunately for Duty and Tax reasons we are unable to offer our 'on approval' service to customers outside the European Community but customers worldwide still have the very valuable benefit of the comprehensive Early Music Shop guarantee.

Worldwide Guarantee

All instruments without exception are covered by The Early Music Shop comprehensive guarantee over and above any guarantee provided by the maker.

Firstly, because we appreciate the difficulties involved in choosing an instrument by mail order, you may exchange it for any other instrument within the first two weeks or return it for a full refund less any reimportation charges.

Secondly, because an instrument such as a recorder may change in character during the initial 'playing in' stages we undertake to revoice the instrument free of charge at any stage within the first twelve months. All you pay is the postage, packing and insurance.

Thirdly, if you ever have cause for concern about the tuning of your instrument we will check it and correct it as necessary, free of charge, within the first twelve months. Again, all you pay is the postage, packing and insurance.

Finally, any fault due to materials or manufacturing will be corrected free of charge within the first twelve months even if this should necessitate a complete replacement.
