
Takeyama
Hirao Takeyama from Japan is now regarded as one of the foremost recorder makers.
He makes a series of relatively inexpensive instruments at a=442 and a=415 that
have proven to be a popular choice with players of all standards. All his instruments
are extremely light to hold and are characterised by a powerful, warm, flute-like
sound, they also have great clarity in the upper register and are ideal solo
instruments. He makes soprano and alto at either pitch in maple or boxwood,
a tenor at a=442 and a voice flute at a=415, both in maple.Illustrated are:
