Wenner
German maker Martin Wenner is one of the newest additions to our catalogue and
his instruments have a deservedly strong reputation. Based on historic models
from a number of collections, his instruments show a fine and consistent attention
to detail. Particularly noteworthy is the Stanesby junior alto available in
either European or maracaibo boxwood, grenadilla or palisander. Designed after
an original from c.1730 in a private Swiss collection, these have a warm, open
and rich sound with a strong upper register. The Bressan alto retains the firm
and projecting sound of the original and is especially well suited to exploring
the richness of baroque music, particularly that of the French repertoire. The
Steenbergen alto is based on a model in the Frans Bruggen collection and is
a competitively priced instrument available in European or maracaibo boxwood,
plumwood or grenadilla.
